Undergraduate

Undergraduates at Duke’s Trinity College and Duke’s Pratt School of Engineering have two academic opportunities to explore global health issues. These include:

  • The Global Health Certificate (offered to undergraduate and graduate students): a six-course, interdisciplinary program that includes a fieldwork or internship experience. The program aims to develop future leaders with tools both to synthesize current knowledge in new ways and to formulate innovative solutions to achieve improvement in the quality of health for underserved populations.
  • The Focus Cluster on Global Health (offered to first and second year students): a one-semester series of interdisciplinary seminars that focus on health disparities. This cluster strains students to identify factors that influence individual and population-level health in the United States and abroad.
  • Courses in global health are available to anyone who wishes to expand their knowledge of global health and health disparities, or simply explore the field more thoroughly. These courses are offered through the Duke Global Health Institute as well as other departments and schools across Duke’s campus.
