Road Traffic Injury Among Children: Solutions for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists in every country

Trent Hall, Room 040

Join us for a Global Health Exchange lecture, sponsored by DGHI. This event is free and open to the public so please spread the word to your colleagues and friends. Light lunch will be served.

About the lecture:
The WHO declared a decade of action for road safety in 2011 because 1.3 million people die on the roads every year, and over 50 million suffer disabling injuries. 90% of the burden of road traffic injury and death is borne in developing countries, putting this silent epidemic on par with the traditional concerns of international health such as HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis. Effective interventions exist for child occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists allowing the WHO to predict a potential 50% reduction in road user deaths by 2021. Will we see this potential fulfilled?
