“Is this chafing dish going to fall if I push it all the way back?"

“Nope. It will stand and stay open. I had this problem last year.”

“You where here last year? What are you doing here this year?”

God will use anything to get you to talk to the right person at the right time. Going to a new country can be difficult: new food, a different place to live, new people. I have to admit that transitioning can be hard. So, when I met the California mission group, Hope for Cambodia, I was relieved to find people of like myself—Christians from California. (I am Catholic and originally from California.) To boot, they were doing things that I was already familiar with doing from some of my previous travels: sorting medical supplies, singing in worship, playing with kids—all through the Hope Bible Institute, a local organization dedicated to help train locals to spread the word of God.

I am thankful the Hope for Cambodia group was so welcoming in letting me join them. Their warmth and kindness is something I wish everyone could feel and experience. I couldn’t think of a better way to transition to new country for my 10 week-long stay.

Tip of the day: Don’t be afraid to say yes. New adventures await.
