This Friday, April 1, Duke University will be hosting two major global health events featuring Duke faculty and student speakers as well as international global health leaders and innovators. Both events are free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Alliances and Incentives in the Era of Outbreaks
This symposium will gather thought leaders in the development, funding, policy, manufacturing and distribution of vaccines and drugs to prevent and treat infectious disease outbreaks. Speakers from GlaxoSmithKline, the Gates Foundation, NIAID, Merck, the Wellcome Trust, Bavarian Nordic, BARDA, Johnson & Johnson and others will join Duke faculty—including global health professor Gavin Yamey—in sharing their thoughts and experiences.
Hosted by the Global Healthcare Innovation Alliances group at Duke, the symposium will be held on April 1 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at McClendon 5 on the Duke University campus.

Duke Symposium on Scaling Innovations in Global Health
This symposium will highlight important lessons and insights from 25 global health social entrepreneurs who are transforming health care in India, East Africa and beyond. From technology to health services, these entrepreneurs will reflecting on their work through a keynote presentation, panel discussions and a structured networking session. Joy Noel Baumgartner, DGHI research scholar and associate director of DGHI's Evidence Lab, will be on the "Measuring Impact" panel.
Hosted by the Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator at Duke, the symposium will be held on April 1 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Mary Duke Biddle Trent Semans Center for Health Education.
