Topic: Burden of HIV on Girls & Women in Africa

Stephen Lewis, co-director of AIDS-Free World, is the second speaker in the University Seminar on Global Health series. He will talk about the disproportionate HIV/AIDS disease burden on women in Africa, particularly that of Kenya. He will also discuss how education access is a means to obtain better health outcomes for women.
The event is free, but registration is appreciated to help ensure adequate seating.
The University Seminar on Global Health is an important component of the Duke Global Health Institute’s effort to bring together a multi-disciplinary group of faculty and students from both the University and Duke Medicine and expand the interest and knowledge of global health. Speakers for the 2008-09 series are leading figures in global health from Duke and other major universities. The seminar series is co-sponsored by the Duke Global Health Institute and the Duke University Center for International Studies.
Free parking is available across the street in the Pickens Clinic lot. Light refreshments will be served.
