Global Blindness: Integrated Approaches to a Cure

This half day regional symposium will bring together the University, School of Medicine, undergraduate programs, and volunteer and community groups to address the current challenges and policies that impact the global blindness eradication strategies. Dr. Gullapalli Nag Rao, of the LV Prasad Eye Institute and current Director of the Vision 2020 program will be the keynote speaker.

Managing Toxic Risks for Global Health February 20, 2009 Co-sponsored with Integrated Toxicology & Environmental Health Program and Duke University Superfund Basic Research Center Location: Searle Conference Center This one day symposium will examine the risks of chemical exposure and provide solutions for minimizing toxicity around the globe. Encompassing three vital themes common to us all, Clean Air, Pure Water and Safe Food, each segment will include a discussion of overall issues and current efforts to reduce toxic risk. The integration of scientific understanding of toxicological problems with international political processes and responses will serve to foster a comprehensive approach to successful management of toxic risks for global health.
