Job Opportunity: Grants and Contracts Specialist

We are looking for a Grants and Contracts Specialist, who is interested in contributing actively to the expansion of the Institute’s research by giving support to a growing body of multi-disciplinary faculty members.  We are particularly interested in candidates who work well in a fast-paced environment and are knowledgeable of sponsored research in an international setting (e.g. international subcontract agreements).

Occupational Summary:  Responsible for assisting with all aspects of grants management from preparation and submission of proposals to monitoring and reconciling all expenditures when the award is received.  An important aspect of this position is ensuring compliance with award guidelines.  DGHI grants are submitted through the Office of Research Support or Office of Research Administration, as the case may be.  The position reports to the Associate Director for Finance and Administration.

Education/Training/Experience:  Work requires knowledge of accounting principles usually acquired through a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a directly related field.  Two to three years of experience working with grants.  Research Costing Compliance Certification (RCC) offered at Duke is preferred.
