Axel Berky works with Dr. William Pan whose research group focuses on understanding the nexus between environmental and human health. As one of project coordinators, Axel frequently travels to Madre de Dios, Peru, conducting environmental sampling for heavy metals and volatile organic compounds, as well as helping coordinating and manage human health studies in the field. Berky earned a dual bachelors at the University of Michigan in Political Science and Environmental Science. He then spent two years living in El Salvador as a Peace Corps volunteer focused on environmental education. Before working with Dr. Pan, Axel completed a Masters in Environmental Management at Duke University with a certificate in geospatial analysis.
