Project Objectives

South Africa and Ghana have high maternal mortality rates, with a large percentage of women dying as a result of postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). The UBT is a low-cost, effective and easy-to-assemble device to counter PPH. Through in-depth interviews with health ministry officials, regulatory officials, experts on PPH, and device manufacturers, this study aims to assess the value of and the processes involved with incorporating the UBT into the portfolio of interventions used to address PPH in South Africa and Ghana.
