Project Objectives

This project will assess how environmental variables, including hygiene practices and exposure to domesticated cattle, alter the composition of the microbes that live on the skin. Skin swab samples will be collected and sequenced in order to better understand the constituency of the skin microbiome of humans and cattle that are in close contact with each other. Additionally, field experiments will attempt to link skin microbes to mosquito bite susceptibility.
