In September 2007, Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC) and Duke Medicine entered into a strategic agreement to work to advance health-care management, hospital operations and patient-care delivery within PUHSC as well as to address health disparities globally..

As part of this agreement, Duke Global Health Institute will collaborate with partners at PUHSC to help establish a Duke-PKU Center on Global Health.
One of the first efforts of the Duke-PKU Center on Global Health will be to create a Global Health Certificate for PUHSC students, modeled in part on the Global Health Certificate at Duke.
Founded in 1912, the PUHSC is made up of eight independent hospitals and 11 schools with more than 10,000 students.
