Gavin Yamey, MD, MPH, MA, MRCP, has undergraduate and masters degrees in physiological sciences (medicine) from Oxford University. Yamey did his medical training at Oxford University and University College London, qualifying as a physician in 1994. He became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 1997. He worked for five years in a variety of London teaching hospitals, followed by a fellowship in medical journalism and editing at the BMJ. His public health training was at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). 
 
Yamey serves on two international health commissions, the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health and the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery. He led the writing of Global Health 2035, the report of the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health, which was published on December 3, 2013. Click here to read full bio.
