SUMMER TERM 1

GLHLTH 390S - 02 Clinical Research Methodology
Instructor: Vivian Chu
* Fulfills global health major or minor CORE ETHICS

Clinical research is an exciting field that combines expertise in medicine with skills in research methodology, statistics, data management, writing, and presentation. This is a hands-on course that allows students to learn by doing in addition to lectures and class discussion.

GLHLTH 390S - 03 Ethics in Clinical Research
Instructor: Vivian Chu
* Fulfills global health major or minor CORE ETHICS

Medical researchers and clinicians repeatedly face ethical quandaries. These quandaries are ever present and ever changing. Through lectures, discussions, and debates, students will learn the principles of medical research ethics and ways to apply these principles to ethical cases.

GLHLTH 390S – 01 Global Health Law & Technology
Instructor: Jason Cross
* Fulfills global health major focused study or global health minor elective

The biggest limitation on most health efforts is scarcity. There never seems to be enough money to do what is needed. In this class, students pull the curtain back and see how the ways we use law and technology impact scarcity, and thus how far health systems are able to go in improving health for all. The course also explores how innovations in law and technology can then empower us to do more.

SUMMER TERM 2

GLHLTH 390S – 05 Global Health & Human Rights
Instructor: Jason Cross
* Fulfills global health major or minor core ethics

Students get to wrestle with ethical questions about how society's current priorities impact health and suffering, often in uneven ways that exacerbate inequalities. Students then explore strategies for social change that can realign priorities in order to live up to our global health and human rights values.

*Two separate classes are scheduled for summer session II. One is four-weeks intensive is Monday-Friday and cannot be combined with any other course during the session. The second course is six weeks long on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
