Alba Amaya-Burns, MD is Associate Professor of Global Health at Duke Kunshan University. Amaya-Burns' primary research interests include global health disparities, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDs, neglected tropical diseases, and maternal health. Her most recent work focuses on multidisciplinary interventions to reduce the burden of infectious diseases and maternal health in the poorest populations in Central America. She has worked in USAID, in charge of infectious diseases programs in El Salvador. She has provided consultancy services to PAHO/WHO on tuberculosis, and as member of the Technical Advisory Group for the control of Antimicrobial Resistance in the Americas.
