Summary

Christine Markwalter is an analytical chemist conducting research on design, development and applications of diagnostics and surveillance tools for infectious diseases. Christine is a postdoctoral associate at DGHI working with Dr. Myaing Nyunt and Dr. Christopher Plowe. She earned her B.S. from Agnes Scott College and her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Vanderbilt University under the mentorship of Dr. David Wright. Her doctoral research focused on developing and improving antigen-based malaria and schistosomiasis diagnostics for use in endemic settings. Christine’s postdoctoral research is centered on using novel sero-surveillance tools to estimate recent and remote exposure to malaria and mosquito antigens in Myanmar.

Favorite activities/hobbies outside of work: Spending time with family, biking, hiking, cooking, playing board games
