Eunsoo Timothy Kim

Postdoctoral Associate

Eunsoo Timothy Kim is a health services researcher interested in improving access to and quality of maternal and child health services as well as essential mental health services in low-resource settings. He is also very interested in understanding the factors associated with early childhood development practices by caregivers. He completed his PhD training in the department of maternal and child health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also served as a predoctoral trainee at the UNC Carolina Population Center.

Timothy’s doctoral work focused on examining the determinants of maternal and newborn postnatal care in low- and middle-income countries. In particular, Timothy examined whether varying cadres of health workers showed different patterns of care and whether having health facilities within certain distances from residential household clusters is associated with postnatal care use.

As a postdoctoral associate, Timothy is engaged in research exploring the important contributors to maternal mental health and early childhood development practices in Ghana and Kenya. He is also involved with health disparities research in early identification and treatment for autism spectrum disorder in children locally.
