This study focuses on understanding the health disparities faced by patients with sickle cell disease and their families. It will assess the relationship between a solid social and medical support network with disease severity and health outcomes. Using in-depth interviews with both adult sickle cell patients and parents of pediatric patients, the differences in perceived burden of disease and health outcomes will be determined in both sites.
