GLHLTH 720
Decolonizing Global Health
Students will read, watch and listen to 2-3 readings on key topics on the colonial histories of global health and modern science, race and equity, decolonizing global health, and approaches to equitable global health partnerships. Students will be expected to participate in a bi-weekly live interactive discussion with classmates, and engage and explore the key themes on the bi-weekly topic and readings. By the end of this course, students will have an understanding of how colonialism, history, and power have shaped the structures, institutions, and partnerships, where global health operates today. The course provides a foundational and introductory understanding of colonialism, capitalism, and race, and encourages students to reframe their perspectives to center different voices and acknowledge the space we occupy as individuals who work in global health.
