The aims of the "Immune Escape from HIV-1, Malaria and TB: Implications for Vaccine Design" symposium are:

  1. To provide young African investigators with the most recent data on immune evasion mechanisms leading to pathogenesis of HIV, TB, and Malaria and implications for vaccine development.
  2. To allow young investigators the opportunity to discuss their own research projects with experts in the field. 3) To foster collaborations and enable an African network of scientists, where region-specific problems can be addressed in future.
