About the Speaker
Dr. Jeemon Panniyammakal is Associate Professor of chronic disease epidemiology at the Public Health Foundation of India and a Wellcome Trust-DBT Clinical and Public Health Intermediate Fellow. He has obtained a Ph.D degree in medical cardiology from the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences, University of Glasgow, UK with a Wellcome Trust fellowship. His current research interests are in development, implementation and evaluation of complex intervention studies for cardiovascular risk reduction in low and middle income country settings.
About the Lecture

Specific attributes of CVD in India will be described in detail. The progression of the epidemic and the social gradient in risk factors and disease conditions will be described. A few examples of innovative methods to address the rising burden of CVD in resource poor settings will be described in detail.
