To celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Duke University Hospital (DUH) will offer several events to honor members of our team who are using their lives to make a difference in our local, national and global communities and who support our value of diversity. This event is open to all who work at DUH, the School of Medicine, the School of Nursing, DHTS, Clinical Labs, Ambulatory Services, and PRMO.
Five individuals and a team of two have been nominated for the seventh Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Caregiver Award. Dr. William J. Fulkerson, Executive Vice President for Duke University Health System, will announce the name of the winner and will present an award of $5,000 to the organization for which the winner volunteers. Lunch will be served and the event will include music, courtesy of John Brown Jazz. Nominees are: Julie Coats and Tracey Terrell from Lenox Baker Children’s Hospital and the Special Care Nursery; Stevon Green from Environmental Services; Kristi Hendricks from 7800; Rachel King, RN, from Performance Services; Vernon Gomez Powell from Material Services and Lorraine Wright, LPN, from Duke Family Medicine.
Registration is required (Course Registration Number: EDS559) and closes January 6, 2015. Three ways to register are below:
