Come hear about Zika research on the ground!
Dr. Marilia Sa Carvalho (Oswaldo Cruz Foundation) was involved in one of the first studies of Zika in Brazil. She has worked for decades with statistical modeling, mostly applied to neglected tropical diseases and social epidemiology. As editor-in-chief of a major Brazilian Public Health Journal (Cadernos de Saude Publica) she is currently editing a special series on Zika and pregnancy.
Dr. Carvalho is currently on sabbatical at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University and has served as chair of the Epidemiology Department and of the Scientific Computation Program at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. She is currently involved with researchers in Rio on the relationship between the Zika virus and microcephaly.
Students interested in Global Public Health are invited to participate in this conversation. Lunch provided.
