For the second consecutive year, Duke students competed in the Emory University Global Health Case Competition, held in Atlanta this past weekend. Along with 12 other universities, the Duke team worked to find solutions on how to effectively address the social, economic and health needs of refugees given that severe budget cuts were looming at regional offices of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Africa. Duke’s multidisciplinary team jointly formulated recommendations, applied practical expertise in solving these complex issues and presented their case to a panel of expert judges.

Congratulations to our Duke team for their terrific work:

Kirby Erlandson, Program II student: Global Health - Politics, Policy and Society
Christina Jelly, Master of Science in Global Health and Doctor of Medicine student at DGHI and Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School
Amanda Leahy, Master of Divinity and Global Health Certificate student
Chibulu Luo, Master of Engineering Management student
Tulsi Patel, Master of Science in Global Health student
Andria Smith, Master of Science in Global Health student
