Gavin Yamey will join the DGHI faculty in September

Gavin Yamey, MD, MPH, MA, MRCP, will join the DGHI faculty on September 1, 2015, as professor of the practice of global health and an associate director in the Institute responsible for leading a global health policy initiative.
Yamey comes to Duke from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where he led the Evidence-to-Policy Initiative in the UCSF Global Health Group. He teaches master’s-level courses on global health policy at UCSF and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and has authored a textbook, The Handbook of Global Health Policy.
Yamey serves on two international health commissions, the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health, where he led the writing of the Lancet’s seminal Global Health 2035, published in December 2013, and the Lancet Commission on Global Surgery.
Yamey recently gave a Ted Talk in Berlin titled, “Achieving a Grand Convergence in Global Health by 2035.”
Yamey will also join the Sanford School of Public Policy faculty as professor of the practice of public policy.
