DGHI is pleased to announce the selection of two postdoctoral fellows: Jennifer Toller Erausquin and Nina Yamanis.

Erausquin is a PhD candidate in the School of Public Health at the University of California, Los Angeles.  As a postdoctoral fellow, Erausquin plans to further explore the mechanisms by which communities affect sexual and reproductive health in the Dominican Republic.

Yamanis is a PhD candidate at The Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina.  During the program, Yamanis aims to expand her research on the social determinants of HIV risk behavior and violence towards women in Tanzania.

“In only our second year of the program, we received an amazing number of applications comparable to that of other more-established programs on campus and across the country,” said Jen’nan Read, DGHI member and professor of Sociology who also directs the program. “The caliber of the applicants was superb, and we are thrilled to be welcoming Jennifer and Nina, our two top choices, to DGHI this fall.  Each brings a unique set of skills and talents to the Institute that we will continue to develop over the course of the next two years.”

DGHI started the two-year postdoctoral fellowship program in July 2008 with the selection of Eve Puffer as the first postdoc.  Puffer has spent the past year studying adolescent mental health in Kenya.
