Wenfeng is a Senior Strategy Officer in the China Country Office of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, where he coordinates strategy transformation and explores new partnerships in a variety of global health and global development domains. Wenfeng has more than 10 years of experience in promoting global health innovation and access for the poor. He led an investment portfolio to monitor global vaccine demand and demystify the drivers of vaccination using a mixture of social science methods, epidemiology, and advanced analytics; he co-launched a strategy to accelerate new vaccine introductions in China through financial innovation, advocacy, and implementation sciences.

He is an infectious disease epidemiologist who studied and worked at Johns Hopkins International Vaccine Access Center. He conducted many consulting projects for the BMGF, Gavi, and WHO on investment strategy, program monitoring, technology transfer mechanisms, and vaccine impact and cost-effectiveness assessments. Wenfeng serves as a Standing Member of the Council for the Promotion of International Vaccine Cooperation of the China Association for Vaccines. He was also a member of the WHO Expert Working Group for Behavior and Social Drivers of Vaccination.

In his early career, Wenfeng was a program manager at Interactive Research & Development in Pakistan, a GIS specialist at Duke Center for Health Policy, and a research assistant at the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai-Chinese Academy of Sciences.
