Nick Hudak is an Associate Professor in the Duke University School of Medicine and is the director of the global health elective course in the Duke Physician Assistant Program. Since 2010, numerous PA students have participated in this course which involves pre-departure training, supervised clinical experiences, and post-experience activities. This role includes serving as the faculty ambassador to maintain longstanding, mutually beneficial partnerships with the clinical sites in Bolivia, Ecuador, Sri Lanka, and Tanzania.
Mr. Hudak has been the lead author on two book chapters related to international clinical education for both educator and learner audiences. Mr. Hudak has also shared outcomes from the global health elective course and his experience in a publication in the Journal of Physician Assistant Education
At the national level, Mr. Hudak PA also served as the chair of the Physician Assistant Education Association’s International Rotations Subcommittee from 2014-2017, which established a series of web-based resources for educators facilitating international clinical education and international service learning. Mr. Hudak has also shared his experience and expertise through multiple podium and poster presentations at national conferences.
At the institutional level, Mr. Hudak was a co-convener of the Duke International Clinical Education (DICE) group, a community of practice comprised of health professions educators involved with international clinical education. The purpose of the DICE group is to maintain a network of educators to explore opportunities information-sharing on best practices and collaborate to improve international clinical education at Duke.
