Edward (Jamie) Mills
Administrative Director
Jamie is responsible for the daily business and administrative activities of DGHI. He works closely with the Director and Deputy Director to develop and implement DGHI’s strategic plans, and he interacts extensively with DGHI faculty, staff, and administrative officials across the University Campus and Medical Center. Specifically, he provides the administrative direction and coordination in the formulation, interpretation, and administration of current and long-range policies, procedures, and programs of the institute. He oversees the Finances, Research Administration, Human Resources, IT and Information Management, and Facilities for DGHI.
Jamie worked at DGHI on the Grants Team from 2014 through 2022, but prior to coming to Duke he worked in the field of U.S. domestic refugee resettlement, at the local programmatic level (in New Bern and Wilmington, NC) as well as the State Level (via the Department of Health and Human Services in Raleigh). Jamie received his BA in History from Clemson University, and an MA in History from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Jamie spends time outside of work with his wife and four children. What little free time he has, he enjoys watching college football, listening to music, and cooking good food!
