Tulsi Patel, MD, MSc is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and an Assistant Research Professor of Global Health.
Currently Dr. Patel provides clinical care at Duke Health, as well as research and resident mentoring in Lilongwe, Malawi. She is also a volunteer professor at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center (KCMC) in Moshi, Tanzania. She serves in a supervisory role for Duke OBGYN trainees on their global health elective and in capacity building in partnership with the OBGYN KCMC department.
Prior to Duke Dr. Patel lived and worked in Malawi for 2 years, primarily providing management and surgical care to women with obstetric and iatrogenic fistulas. She has a broad interest in women’s global health including prevention and management of obstetric fistula, vaginal reconstructive surgery, infectious diseases, refugee and immigrant health, and improvement of surgical outcomes.
