Kaitlyn Shepard

Manager, Community and Donor Engagement

Kaitlyn plans key meetings, events and projects for multiple constituents and stakeholders across the Duke Global Health Institute. She supports several teams across the institute in planning and carrying out institute-wide events, including scholarly talks, research seminars, faculty and staff meetings, social events and board functions.

Kaitlyn is an alumni of the University of Northern Iowa where she graduated with a BA in Financial Management and a Minor in International Business. Shortly after graduating Kaitlyn joined the Peace Corps which brought her to Southern Africa (Namibia) where she spent the following 5 years working on projects to support financial literacy programs for local artisans as well as girls empowerment through sport. Upon moving back to the US, she spent the last 4 years working in the Veteran Service Nonprofit space with a focus on programming supporting families who have lost a loved one to military service.

In her free time, you can find her with her partner and son hiking, camping, or catching a soccer game!
