Global Health Courses

You'll experience a wide range of interesting classes here at DGHI and Duke. Below you can read through some course testimonials and get a sneak preview of one of the required courses, Global Health Research – Design and Practice, from professor Eric Green.

The group work was immensely helpful in understanding the materials. I could tell Dr. Turner really cares about the class and our success.

Student comment on Biostats/Epidemiology course

I love the lecture style and set-up of this course! I appreciate how there is some summary of the readings, but that this isn't the focus of the lecture—we have the opportunity to learn more this way. I also appreciate the case study exercise and the enrichment opportunity.

DGHI also has a wide range of pre-approved electives for our students to take. Electives are taught from within DGHI and also in other graduate departments and programs across campus, including Environment, Public Policy, and Population Health Sciences.

Duke also offers several certificate programs that are available to global health students, such as the Innovation & Entrepreneurship certificate, the International Development Policy Certificate, and the Geospatial Analysis Certificate.

This class really opened my eyes to the big health issues the world is dealing with right now. It gave me a solid foundation to understand these challenges from a biopsychosocial perspective. We covered a wide range of topics such as environment, noncommunicable diseases, disasters, etc... I learned a ton from this course!
