DGHI Announces New Faculty and Affiliates

The Duke Global Health Institute would like to announce a new faculty member and new affiliates to the institute.

New Faculty Members

Svati Shah is and Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology, Duke Department of Medicine, and is leader of the DGHI cardiovascular disease research initiative.. 

New Affiliates

Tom Denny is an Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine. He is the Chief Operating Officer of the Duke Human Vaccine Institute, Center for HIV/AIDS Vaccine Immunology.

Bernard Fuemmeler is an Assistant Professor in Community and family medicine.  He is currently investigating parental and family factors that influence obesity and physical activity during youth, and child psychiatric conditions that have the potential to influence smoking risk.

is Director of the Program in Emerging Infectious Diseases at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School in Singapore.

Katie Koelle is an Assistant Professor of Biology.  Her research focuses on the ecology and evolution of infectious diseases.

Ross McKinney is a Professor of Pediatrics at the School of Medicine.  His research is in the antiretroviral treatment of HIV infected children.

Chris Newgard is a Professor of Nutrition in the School of Medicine.  His laboratory has investigated mechanisms of metabolic regulation and fuel homeostasis in mammalian systems.
