DGHI Set for NCGHA Conference

Leadership, faculty and students will represent the institute at this year’s event in North Carolina’s capital

More than a dozen faculty and students will represent Duke Global Health Institute at the North Carolina Global Health Alliance’s Annual Conference slated for Oct. 22. The event, in Raleigh, will be held at the McKimmon Center on North Carolina State University’s campus.

This year’s conference theme is “Bridging North Carolina with the World.” DGHI Director Chris Beyrer, M.D., will serve as a moderator for the plenary panel on “Opportunities to Bridge North Carolina with the World.” Faculty and staff will participate in session talks while undergraduate and Master of Science in Global Health students will present posters based on their current research.  Sessions 

  • Solomon Ayehu, M.D., research assistant at Duke Global Health Institute, will be a part of “North Carolina Leadership for Global Impact.”
     
  • Mercedes Bravo, Ph. D, assistant research professor of global health and population health sciences, will be a part of “Addressing Global Health Priorities in North Carolina Communities.”
     
  •  Tra Tran MS’19, a research coordinator with Refugee Community Partnership, will be a part of “Conflict to Community: The Continuum of Healthcare Provision from Displacement to Resettlement.”
