Eight Global Health Courses Added for Spring Semester

With bookbagging in full swing this week, the Duke Global Health Institute announces eight new global health courses this Spring. Some of the courses are available to undergraduate or graduate students exclusively, while others are open to a mix of students.

New courses include:

  • African Health Systems, NGOs and Global Health (GLHLTH 671) – David Toole
  • Bioethics (GLHLTH 740) – Kearsley Stewart
  • Economics and Global Health (ECON 390.01 & 690.01/GLHLTH 390.01) – Erica Field
  • Food and the Body (CULANTH 309S/GLHLTH 320S) – Harris Solomon
  • Global Mental Health (GLHLTH 560S/PSY 611S/CULANTH 611S) – Eve Puffer
  • Introduction to Maternal and Child Health(GLHLTH 571) – Eric Green
  • Non-Communicable Diseases (GLHLTH 741) – Gerald Bloomfield
  • Spatial Epidemiology and Demography (GLHLTH 636) – William Pan & Beth Feingold

“With this year’s expanded menu of course options, I’m confident students can find a path that interests them and fuels their passion for global health. It’s an exciting time to be involved in global health at Duke,” said Gary Bennett, director of DGHI Undergraduate Studies and associate professor of psychology and neuroscience and global health. “We are able to offer new courses in part because of our success in recruiting the best minds to Duke. We have a growing group of world-class faculty and researchers at DGHI who are committed to our students and their growth as global health leaders.”
