Professor Malkin is interested in medical instrumentation in the developing world. Dr. Malkin is also the director Duke-Engineering World Health. This unique study abroad program allows undergraduates to study and work in developing world hospitals. Dr. Malkin is the faculty advisor for CUREs, a non-profit business promotion program. Malkin's invention, the Pratt Pouch, was selected by the World Health Organizations as one of the top ten "innovative health technologies for low-resource settings" in 2012.
